Colonel Hugh “Slip” Slater, (now 87 years old), was commander of the Area 51 base in the 1960s.There were 2850 official flights out of Area 51 with the Oxcart during Slater's period of duty as Commander of the mission.

Colonel Hugh “Slip” Slater is the Oxcart pilot who, now that his missions are declassified, has spoken with various reporters about them in public. Slater was awarded the CIA Medal of Merit for outstanding work.In various operations.
Slater was one of five people who blew the top off some military testing secrets which were being performed at area 51

Col. Slater claims to have been one of six pilots who flew the Oxcart spyplane in various missions during the Vietnam War. In his statements to the press he said "I was recruited for the Area after working with the CIA's classified Black Cat Squadron, which flew U-2 missions over denied territory in Mainland China. After that, I was told, that I should come out to Nevada and work on something interesting we're doing out there. "

Slater accepted the offer. He states; "When I learned about this Mach-3 aircraft called OXCART, it was completely intriguing to me. This idea of flying three times the speed of sound! No one knew a thing about the program. I asked my wife, Barbara, if she wanted to move to Las Vegas, and she said yes. And I said, 'You won't see me but on the weekends,' and she said, 'That's fine!' In 2007, the CIA began declassifying the 50-year-old Oxcart program, which is what permitted Slater to be able to talk about it.

The other members of the 5 man Expose;

  1. Edward Lovick was a physicist who helped develop the technology used for the Oxcart spay plane program. Lovick confirms that Groom Lake is the site of Area 51 (which he also claims to have been nicknamed "the paradise ranch") and that the reason for it having been kept secret by the USAF is because they were testing U-2s there.
  2. Kenneth Collins story involved his crashing an Oxcart secret spy plane in Utah, and singlehandedly covering the fact up when he was rescued by state police after ejecting from the cockpit before crashing. The CIA helped to bluff the crashed plane as being an F-105.
  3. Thornton Barnes was an Area 51 special-projects engineer. He was a radar and nike missile expert who was recruited by the C.I.A. for his special abilities, and assigned to help administrate Nuclear secrets and work in a special projects group, which he claims to have been the most secret activity since the Manhattan project.
  4. Harry Martin was involved with overseeing the Oxcart's specially mixed jet fuel. He was assigned to oversee and check quality of the fuel stored at the many secret refuelling stations around the world which were used for the Oxcart spyplane.
